Portland scenes and eats from our visit | Feb 2026

Three spots we visited during our Portland trip that didn't make it into my previous posts are Raising Canes, Hello Portland, and Voodoo Doughnut. Since I didn't want to share them in individual posts, I decided to group them together in a Portland scenes and eats post!

This Keep Portland Weird mural is fun and is located across the street from Voodoo Doughnut.

We tried Raising Cane's for the first time and didn't like it! We'd heard about this fast-food spot popular for their Chicken Tenders for years, and we couldn't wait to try it. Turned out to be a big letdown. The fries were mushy and nothing special, and the Chicken Tenders were not to our liking at all. But the interior was so cute, and I liked my photos, so I'm sharing them here. Raising Cane's is located in the Pioneer Place mall in Downtown Portland. A very fancy mall with upscale stores, but it was so empty when we visited on a Friday afternoon.

I really liked this gift shop, Hello From Portland. There was so much good Portland merch to buy. They even have free maps and postcards by the register. I found a couple pins for my collection!

We've been to Voodoo Doughnut a few times now. Their original location is in Portland's Old Town, near Chinatown. This isn't the best area, and there's even a security guard at the door to let you in. For some reason, this location still gets really busy and the hype never died from when they first opened years ago. We have locations in Seattle now, plus you can find them in other spots in the country.

My husband and I first visited this location in 2012, see that post right here, and we waited in a long line for twenty minutes. On this latest trip, we waited about five minutes to go in. These doughnuts are overly sweet and they're huge, so eating one feels like you're over doing it. I would recommend trying them at least once, but at this point, we've had our fill of Voodoo Doughnut.

Thanks for following along on our Portland adventures from this latest overnight. Where are some of your favorite Portland spot for eating, drinking, and shopping?

Share your recs in the comments below and I'll add them to my list for next time!
