Chicken and Custard at the newly opened Super Chix
A little grub to start the weekend off right- A Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, Blueberry Pie Frozen Custard, and some Fried Pickles.
Tukwila has a new spot for chicken sandwiches, tasty sides, and frozen custards! I just happened to be looking for a casual spot to eat with my family over the weekend near Westfield Southcenter in Tukwila, and Super Chix popped up. Their menu looked really solid with lots of different chicken sandwiches to choose from, plus cheese fries, fried pickles, and frozen custards. The reviews looked very positive, so we went for dinner the next day. They're a fast casual spot, so you order at the counter and they'll bring you your food. They also come around again to check on you, which is nice for fast food service.
I ordered the Nashville Hot Sandwich with Fried Pickles and the special frozen custard currently, the Blueberry Pie Custard. My husband got a sandwich also, so he shared his cheese fries with me. Our sons each got a kid's meal, one with Chicken Strips and the other with the Grilled Cheese. These meals actually come with something to drink, a side, and even a frozen custard, brownie, or Rice Krispy Treat. This is a really good deal for the kids. One of my boys got a Vanilla Custard, and we upgraded to an Oreo Mint Cold Fusion for my other son, since he had his eye on that.
It looked like quite the spread, and I couldn't wait to dig in. I already had taken a visit to the sauce bar, where you can get unlimited sauces like Honey Mustard, Ranch, Korean BBQ, and more. I couldn't decide what to try first! I started with a fried pickle since I love a good fried pickle. These were perfect, and so good dipped in the creamy Buttermilk Ranch. My son's Mint Oreo ice cream was sweet, creamy, and had a really nice texture. My Blueberry Pie Custard was tangy and smooth, and had a consistency like soft serve, which is my favorite. There were lots of pieces of crushed pie crust mixed in, which made it even better.
By then, my sandwich was a little cooler and I dug in. The chicken was juicy and cooked well. The sauce was pretty spicy, but not overly so. The crunchy pickles gave the sandwich a nice touch as well. The sandwich was a good size, not so huge I couldn't polish off most of it. I was pretty hungry though! The cheese fries were a little underwhelming, however. The fries got soggy pretty fast, and the Queso Blanco didn't blow me away in terms of flavor. I like my fries a little thicker if I'm going to add any toppings to them.
Since we ordered so much food, we left with quite a few boxes. Those and sauce lids are easy assessable to grab. An employee came over and even offered us some bags for our boxes. They were all so nice! So, if chicken sandwiches are your thing along with frozen custards, you'll love this spot!
