Date Night at Shadowland
West Seattle is a laid-back neighborhood for a chill date night. The area is full of dining and bar options, and there's quite a few we've yet to visit. One of the local spots in West Seattle we hadn't yet gone was Shadowland. Known for their solid happy hour deals and relaxing vibes, this neighborhood restaurant and bar was way worth a visit. They offer strong and tasty cocktails and big portions just right for sharing.
My husband and I each started off with a Cobblestone Old Fashioned. This signature cocktail had rye, infused with peach black tea, Angostura, and bitters. We both loved the flavors of this one, and it was also pretty strong. For our second round, I ordered a Mango Mai Tai Slushy, and this had to be one of the best bar slushies I've tried. It was strong and had the perfect texture. His second drink was a spicy one- the Sidecar to Hell. This unique play on the classic Sidecar had Serrano infused brandy, a Tajin and sugar rim, and more. I thought it was too spicy, but my husband really loved this one.
To eat, we shared an order of the Fried Pickles. The order was huge, and the pickle slices were lightly seasoned. There was a small side of ranch for dipping. There should have been a bigger side, since we ran out of ranch halfway through. These were perfectly sour, crunchy, and the ranch broke through the sourness of the pickles nicely.
We also shared the Meatball Grinder. Instead of fries, we ordered some Creamy Tomato Bisque for an additional $3. This ended up being a good move, since the marinara on the sandwich was a little underwhelming and under seasoned. I just poured the tomato bisque over the sandwich, and it was just right. The flavor of the pork and beef meatballs and the mozzarella cheese was quite tasty. Another customer saw our sandwich and ended up also ordering it and liking it!
We had a good time at Shadowland, this chill and dimly lit West Seattle spot!
