A Stay at Oxford Suites in Jantzen Beach, Portland
During our sons' mid-winter break from school, we did an overnight in Portland, OR. We stayed at Oxford Suites. This location was in Jantzen Beach, which is right after you cross the bridge from WA into OR. This was our fourth time staying at an Oxford Suites, since we find it affordable and it has all of the amenities we like. There's free parking, free breakfast, a pool, sauna, hot tub, an onsite-restaurant and bar, and even a free drink ticket per person to use at the restaurant.
The rooms themselves are nice, but this location's bathroom was really basic and not our favorite. The shower head wasn't good, since it had a really hard stream of water coming out. But that was my only complaint. We paid $150 for our standard room.
The lobby is cute, along with the huge dining area for the onsite-restaurant, Hayden's, and breakfast area. They have a swim theme because of the location at Jantzen Beach. We had dinner at Hayden's, and we were able to use our drink tickets. I got a glass of Cabernet, and my husband got a Manhattan made with a well liquor. Here, you grab a seat and head to the bar to order. Then your beeper will go off, and you'll pick up your food at the kitchen window. The drinks turned out to be the highlight of our dinner, since the quality of our food wasn't great. We shared the Smashburger and our boys had Chicken Strips and Fries. I wouldn't recommend either of these dishes but do get a drink from the bar and head to a local spot in Portland. Order the Old Fashioned. We shared one after our meal and it was super enjoyable. It was a really smokey Old Fashioned and very tasty.
The complimentary breakfast was pretty solid. There were two waffle makers to make your own, pastries, cereal, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and more. We used the pool in the morning before checking out. It was actually a pool that wasn't freezing like so many other hotel pools we've been to. The hot tub wasn't very hot, however. We enjoyed our stay at Oxford Suites in Portland! Stay tuned for more posts from our trip!
