Trying the Harry Potter Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme
No wands or special spells are necessary to get your hands on the Harry Potter Doughnuts from Krispy Kreme. They currently have a collab featuring four doughnuts from each Hogwarts house, and even a special Sorting Hat one in a themed box. If you haven't seen the Harry Potter movies, in the first movie The Sorcerer's Stone, each student at Hogwarts places the magical Sorting Hat on and it determines which house they'll be in at school. There's Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Gryffindor. There are quizzes online you can take, and it well tell you what house you'd be in. I'm in the Ravenclaw house, which is great for me since the colors are my favorite color, blue.
For the featured Krispy Kreme doughnuts, the Ravenclaw one has blueberry icing, the Hufflepuff is filled with brown butter toffee custard, the Slytherin has green buttercream and chocolate, and Gryffindor is packed with cookie butter flavored Kreme and topped with a Biscoff cookie crumble.
The Sorting Hat doughnut is a topped with a chocolate buttercream and filled with whatever house you magically get. Blue is Ravenclaw, yellow is Hufflepuff, green is Slytherin, and red icing is Gryffindor. Ours had green icing, so it was Slytherin. The Sorting Hat doughnut isn't featured in the dozen, so you must purchase it separately if you want this one. These doughnuts tasted like the typical Krispy Kreme doughnuts, not super fresh and overly sweet. The Cookie Butter filling and Brown Butter Toffee Custard tasted too alike.
They missed the mark not having anything Butterbeer flavored, but my guess is they didn't have the proper permissions to use it. Butterbeer is a trademarked flavor and one of the best things you'll find to drink at Universal Studios. If you've never heard of Butterbeer, it's a butterscotch flavor and sweet and refreshing in the best way. They drink this tasty beverage in the Harry Potter films.
The doughnuts looked amazing and like something right of the Harry Potter movies. The Hogwarts colors are well done and each crest on top looked cool. These crests were too chewy however for us to eat. My favorite part was opening the small colorful box with the Sorting Hat doughnut and then trying it to see what color filling I had.
