Homemade Blackberry Sauce

It's August so that means the blackberry bushes in my yard are ready for picking. I picked a few cups and then made some sauce. I whipped up some pancakes using Greek Yogurt and then topped them with the blackberry sauce. It was scrumptious!

A couple of days later I bought some vanilla ice cream and used the sauce on top. That was a delicious summer dessert. I don't love the seeds from the berries, but the sauce tasted amazing, so I got over it. I used a sauce recipe from Cookingwithcarlee.com. The recipe is really simple, and I liked the results. You can use any berry with this recipe. There are endless possibilities of what you can top it with. Cheesecake, shortcake, ice cream, crepes, waffles, pancakes- oh man, I'm getting hungry!

Easy Blackberry Sauce

Ingredients:

3 cups blackberries, fresh or frozen

2 T. lemon juice

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 T. cornstarch

2 T. water

Directions:

Place blackberries, lemon, and sugar in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until it comes to a boil. Continue to boil and stir for ten minutes. If you want a thicker sauce, stir together water and cornstarch, and add to boiling berries. Cook until thickened. Remove from heat and cool. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.

What kinds of berries are you enjoying this summer? What kind of sauce would you make to add to your dessert?
