A Food Adventure at University Village in Seattle
A Raspberry Croissant from The French Guys Bakery at U Village.
Fresh French Pastries, Soft Serve cones decorated with a Labubu, and Happy Hour drinks await at U Village in Seattle!
One rainy Friday afternoon, my family and I visited the shopping area U Village for our very own food adventure. It was packed and parking was a problem. There's lots of parking, but we still drove around for ten minutes looking for a spot. Once we secured a spot, we hightailed it to The French Guys Bakery, next to The Gap.
This was our first visit to this authentic French bakery. We were awed by the high ceilings and the second-story loft. The fresh pastries awaited us in the glass case, everything from Almond Croissants to Hazelnut and Raspberry. The desserts glistened next to the pastries. A Paris Brest, Chocolate Eclair, Parisian Flan, and more, all appealed to us. I selected a pretty Raspberry Croissant, my son chose a Kiougn-Amann, and my other son ordered a Paris-Brest.
The pastries were a little on the harder side. The Kiougn-Amann was a little hard and sticky. My son ate his Paris-Brest quickly and wanted another pastry, but we had plans for more treats at our next stop. The Raspberry Croissant had a tart raspberry jam filling. This pasty looked really pretty, but it didn't taste as good as it looked. Next up, we walked a few stores over to Trophy Cupcakes and Party.
We've visited this location before and their other locations around Seattle. They're famous for their cupcakes, but in recent years introduced Soft Serve. Their U Village is the only location where they sell the soft serve. And they even currently have a Labubu cone, so I had to order that! If you saw in my last post at Laka Saigon, we tried a Milk Tea with lots of toppings, and even an edible Labubu on top. At Trophy they offer a vanilla soft serve or a Dole Whip in either a cone or cup. Then they cover it in sprinkles, and a Labubu face and edible ears. This cone was super whimsical, trendy, and delicious!
For our final and third stop at U Village, we headed to an early Happy Hour at Joey. This is a restaurant we've been to lots of times, mostly at the Westfield Southcenter location and one in Vancouver, BC. They give you a small glass of complimentary sparkling wine when you enter, which is a nice touch. My husband ordered the Adult Snack Pack which consisted of a small Gin Martini and some Parmesan Truffle Fries. I ordered the HH Frozen Peach Bellini and an order of the Truffle Fries to share with our boys for a snack. We cooked dinner when we returned home later.
We had fun walking around U Village and having our own food adventure. It was a little rainy and really busy, but we liked trying a new spot and hitting up a couple of classic places we've been to before!
