Lunch at the Columbia Cafe in Columbia Falls, MT
When new local spots open in Columbia Falls, MT, the town where I grew up, we love to try them when visiting. On our most recent trip in late July, my husband and I ate at Columbia Cafe. They opened last year and are a sit-down cafe serving breakfast and lunch items. They're located on Nucleus Ave, the main downtown area in Columbia Falls. When I grew up there, there weren't many local spots worth visiting, compared to today. Now you can find really good quality cuisine and local shops in the area.
Columbia Cafe is a neighborhood spot serving comfort eats. The service was so friendly, which I usually find when I dine out in small towns. This cafe is popular among both locals and visitors, so we did have about a 25-minute wait. We got seated at the counter which was fine for the two of us. They don't have a bar or serve any beer or wine, since it's a breakfast/lunch spot. The portions here are really hearty and large, perfect for sharing or taking half home.
I ordered the Banana Bread French Toast. It wasn't anything fancy looking, but the dish was very tasty. My husband ordered the Fried Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. He really enjoyed the sandwich, but he found the sauce to be super spicy! He can handle a lot of heat, so it must have been pretty hot.
We both enjoyed trying this new spot in Columbia Falls and loved how fresh and modern the interior was. This spot used to be the Columbia Bar, and even thought I never visited, I heard it was old and not really the place to hang. This new cafe is the perfect addition for this area of town!
