Exploring The Lodge at Whitefish Lake | Dining at the Tiki Bar

The pool bar, pool, and the lake sparkle on a summer evening in NW Montana from The Lodge at Whitefish Lake.

Whitefish, MT is home to a world-renowned ski resort, Whitefish Mountain Resort. The main body of water, Whitefish Lake, is popular for water recreation, or if you're like us and want to sip a tiki drink and look at the water. The area has some beautiful and rustic lodges, with grand lobbies, deluxe rooms, and notable dining. Although we've never stayed overnight at these MT lodges, we have taken advantage of the various lounges and restaurants onsite. On our latest visit to the Flathead Valley, where I spent my childhood, my family visited The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. They have an outdoor Tiki Bar by the pool, and it overlooks Whitefish Lake and the mountains, including the Whitefish Mountain Resort.

The Tiki Bar, an upscale pool bar, is walk-up only. My advice is to go early like we did, and you probably won't have to wait. We arrived at 4:45 for an early dinner and we got seated right away. We also went on a Monday, so it wasn't as busy. They do offer live music on Sundays and Wednesdays in the summer, so it probably gets busy then. This lakeside tiki bar features fun cocktails, and poolside eats such as wings, burgers, salads, fish tacos, and more. I started with a Tiki Punch. This refreshing tiki cocktail had light and dark rums with fruit juice. It tasted even better outside with the pretty lake and mountain view.

To eat I enjoyed the Carnitas Tacos. These had slow roasted pork which was so tender and juicy. My husband had the Sticky Asian Ribs with a hoisin chili sauce. He really liked these ribs and enjoyed the savory flavors and tender meat. My son ordered the Elote Corn Ribs which are fried corn ribs with cotija cheese, a chipotle aioli, and a tajin sauce. He always likes these kinds of flavors, and this dish was no exception. My other son loves a good cheeseburger, so he ordered the Smashburger which was served with fries. My mom ordered the Pescado Tacos which was Blackened Mahi with a cabbage slaw, a huckleberry Pico de Gallo, and a chipotle crema. These were a unique take on a classic fish taco, and she really liked them.

After dinner at the Tiki Bar, we walked around the lobby where they have a huge fireplace, some animal mounts, and a giant bear on display. This lodge on Whitefish Lake is so pretty, and we really enjoyed the outdoor dining on the lake!

The bear sculpture outside the main lobby was so cute!

This building is across the street from the main lobby, and there's a large parking lot where we parked.
There are more guestrooms in this building.
