A Birthday lunch at The Pink Door
The Pappardelle Al Ragu Bolognese from The Pink Door.
To celebrate my birthday my husband and I dined in Pike Place Market at The Pink Door. This was our first visit and we couldn't wait to taste the classic Italian cuisine. The Pink Door is locally owned and an iconic spot in Seattle. The dishes are fresh, seasonal, yet simple and authentic. This restaurant gets busy, so reservations are recommended. We went for lunch and sat in the main dining room. Every table was full. The lounge is large and has nightly eclectic entertainment with trapeze acts, cabaret, and more.
I started with one of the fall signature cocktails. I chose A Real Nice Pear to drink. This cocktail had mezcal and had a wonderful smokey and fruity flavor. My husband's drink was the Dark Night. This one had rye whiskey and tasted like an Old Fashioned.
To eat, I ordered the Pappardelle Al Ragu Bolognese. The serving was on the smaller side, and I was able to finish it. The Pappardelle pasta was cooked perfectly, and the savory and rich meat sauce had the flavor and depth I was expecting. My husband ordered the Cioppino which had prawns, rock fish, mussels, and calamari in a spicy tomato white wine broth, and had garlic bread served on the side. He loved his dish. This is a special kind of seafood dish you don't get to eat often.
I love how Pike Place Market is full of local and unique dining experiences. I think The Pink Door is one of the best places to celebrate a special occasion!
