Dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Richmond, BC
The iconic Beef Wellington from Gordon Ramsay Steak in Richmond, BC, inside the River Rock Casino Resort.
Our first time dining at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant was one for the books! This was one of the best meals of my life, and a perfect way to end the year. During our overnight at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC, we ate dinner at Gordon Ramsay Steak. Gordon Ramsay is a British celebrity chef. His restaurant group was founded in 1997 and has been awarded 17 Michelin stars. He's also known for his TV show, Hell's Kitchen. He has restaurants all over the world, but Gordon Ramsay Steak in Richmond is the first location in Canada, and there are six of these fine dining locations in North America.
At Gordon Ramsay Steak you can order the finest cuts of meat which are dry-aged to perfection. The interior is very upscale and contemporary. I started with a Red Eye Old Fashioned which had Bourbon, demerara, and red eye bitters. I could taste the quality in this signature cocktail. My husband ordered a Dramble which had rum, lemon, framboise edv, raspberry, and allspice. We weren't a fan of this cocktail since it was hard to mix up and drink because of all of the crushed ice. We were presented with a plate of Amuse Bouche, a complimentary palate pleaser, to whet our appetites. We each got one savory bite of deliciousness. We tasted cheese, pastry, and some sort of pickled onion. A perfect start to our luxurious dinner.
We started with some warm bread which had an herb and spiced local butter. The bread practically melted in our mouths. After the bread course, our server brought out the entrees. We ordered several dishes to share. We ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto, the French Fries, and the Roasted Beef Wellington for two. The Beef Wellington has four pieces of medium rare grass-fed beef which are wrapped in a pastry and served with a red wine demi-glace. It arrived at the table with Roasted Carrots and Potato Puree.
The Beef Wellington was super smooth, and the puff pastry wrapped around it was soft and buttery. The carrots were cooked and seasoned really well and tasted way too good for just carrots. The Potato Puree were very creamy and such a nice accompaniment to the beef. I really enjoyed the Wild Mushroom Risotto and I almost cried because of the creamy Mascarpone cheese and how perfectly cooked the mushrooms were. At this point in the meal, I was getting really full, but I still wanted to try the popular Sticky Toffee Pudding.
This iconic dessert arrived at the table and all four of us dug in. This is a date cake with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream on top. My favorite element was the sweet and thick toffee sauce. We enjoyed every bite. I was super full, but then our kind server presented us with another surprise- a plate of Lemon Macarons and Chocolate Truffles. I took one bite of the macaron and one bite of the truffle, and I was overly stuffed. But it was so worth it!
This was my first time dining at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants, and it won't be my last. I look forward to trying another location in the future. If you get the opportunity to dine at one of his spots, don't hesitate and just book a table!
