A stay at River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, BC

For a holiday overnight right after Christmas, my family and I drove up to Richmond, BC. We stayed one night at River Rock Casino. We don't gamble, but we do like fine dining and pools with waterslides, so we were so excited to stay at this hotel. They have a Gordon Ramsay Steak inside the hotel, and we had a reservation for dinner.

River Rock hotel is a four-star hotel, but there were a few misses for us. We were confused about where to check in, as there seemed to be two lobbies. The parking was complicated, and we ended up getting a parking ticket which the hotel later waived after we returned home. The parking ticket was $98 CA, so it's good I talked to the receptionist about it. There are multiple garages, but you can only park on the second and third floor. I forgot and we parked on the first level. The coffee machine in the room didn't work and the shower didn't get hot at all.

Now for what we liked about the hotel! The location was close by everything in Richmond. Shopping and dining were all a couple minutes away by car. There are different towers to stay in, and they are all connected by a convenient skybridge. Since we weren't in the main building, it was easy to take an elevator and then cross the skybridge to the main part of the resort. This is where the dining, casino, pool, and Starbucks were.

We dined at Gordon Ramsay Steak, and it was one of the best meals of my life. I'll be sharing about our experience in my next blog post.

The holiday decor in both lobbies was so pretty with the Christmas trees.

The lobby we checked into.

The hotel beds were comfy, and the room felt modern. I liked the large bathroom and rainfall showerhead. Hot water would have made it better, of course. There weren't many outlets in the room, and I had to hunt for them. I found two behind some furniture, and we finally found two more on a desk, after we lifted up a flap they were located on.

The view of the resort from the elevator by our room.

We really liked the pool. The water was freezing, but there was a large hot tub. The waterslide was big and looked really fun. There's an attendant with heated towels, and for some reason you needed to give them your name and room number, and you couldn't bring the towels back to your room.

This is the sunrise to woke up to. Our view was of the Richmond Skytrain (public transit) and some more of Richmond.

The view from the hotel of Frasier River and of the city. This was our first time staying in Richmond, BC. We usually stay in Vancouver.

For breakfast we ate at The Chairman's Room. They have a weekend buffet which starts at 11 am, but that is priced at $40 per person. For breakfast my son and I shared the French Toast, which had some pretty amazing, whipped cream and cherries to pour on top. My husband had the Eggs Benidict. My other son just ordered the Multigrain Toast which he really liked.

I've always been curious about this hotel and had heard great things from a friend. We had a fun overnight here, but our highlights were Gordon Ramsay Steak and the pool!
