Mother's Day Weekend Brunch at The Garrison

Two mouthwatering brunch dishes from The Garrison in Ballard.  For Mother's Day weekend, my family and I dined at The Garrison . This is a locally owned Oyster and Seafood house located in Ballard. I started with a Sunset Espresso Martini. This had Amaro, Licor 43, Cold Brew, and Boomsma Herbal. I didn't really enjoy their version of the drink, and I should have known by reading the ingredients it would be different than the classic cocktail made with espresso. Unfortunately, we didn't really care for my husband's drink, an Almond Croissant Sidecar either. This had a bunch of ingredients and featured Cognac, but we didn't find it very tasty. He did however order a Manhattan later in the meal, and this classic martini was much better.  My sons shared the Chicken and Waffles. This was a pretty standard version of the classic brunch dish. It was made with Cornmeal Waffles and came with hot sauce, syrup, and honey butter. The chicken was seasoned nicely and was nice a...

A Visit to King Leroy for holiday drinks and vibes

A Sugar Cookie Martini from King Leroy!

We love a good holiday-themed bar, and King Leroy in SLU is no exception. They went the extra mile to make their bar merry and bright! The little touches of magic were everywhere we looked. From the Santa statue at the door, to the famous leg lamp on the bar from the classic A Christmas Story movie, and the ornaments hanging from the holly from the Christmas Vacation movie. Even the bathroom was decked out in full Christmas with a cheery tree and a sparkling deer with antlers.

My husband and I were the first customers of the day, so we had the bar to ourselves for most of our visit. You order at the bar and then grab a table. I was super excited to get my cocktail served in a moose glass just like the ones they use in Christmas Vacation when Clark and Cousin Eddy are drinking Eggnog. And the best part? They gave me the glass to take home. They said they had too many and I could keep mine. The bartender was so nice!

They have some signature cocktails for the holidays. I chose a Sugar Cookie Martini. It was similar to eggnog since it had Bailey's Irish Cream and Vodka. My husband enjoyed a classic Old Fashioned. To eat for our lunch, he had the Chicken Sandwich with Tots, and I had some Chicken Wings with the best Ranch ever.

I had so much fun taking photos all over the festive bar, enjoying my boozy drink, and grubbing on some wings!
