Mother's Day Weekend Brunch at The Garrison

Two mouthwatering brunch dishes from The Garrison in Ballard.  For Mother's Day weekend, my family and I dined at The Garrison . This is a locally owned Oyster and Seafood house located in Ballard. I started with a Sunset Espresso Martini. This had Amaro, Licor 43, Cold Brew, and Boomsma Herbal. I didn't really enjoy their version of the drink, and I should have known by reading the ingredients it would be different than the classic cocktail made with espresso. Unfortunately, we didn't really care for my husband's drink, an Almond Croissant Sidecar either. This had a bunch of ingredients and featured Cognac, but we didn't find it very tasty. He did however order a Manhattan later in the meal, and this classic martini was much better.  My sons shared the Chicken and Waffles. This was a pretty standard version of the classic brunch dish. A Visit to Drip Drip Coffeehouse

A Peppermint Candy Cane iced coffee from Drip Drip Coffeehouse in the Central District!

For strong Vietnamese Coffee in Seattle, check out Drip Drip Coffeehouse. This cozy coffee shop located in the Central District, has unique flavors and you can even get a flight of them. For Christmastime they have holiday flavors. I tried the Peppermint Candy Cane. It came topped with candy cane foam and candy cane pieces.

My coffee was strong. After about two sips I felt the caffeine already. Which was perfect since I was planning on making sugar cookies with my sons and decorating them later! I loved the flavor of the coffee mixed with the peppermint foam. It wasn't overly sweet yet tasted really creamy and satisfying!

You can currently order a Holiday Coffee Flight with four coffees. The flavors are Toffee Nut, Salted Caramel, Cozy Smores, and Peppermint Candy Cane. The coffee shop was pretty packed when I visited and a lot of people were ordering the coffee flight. The interior was decorated for the holidays and looked so cute.

The prices are steep for one coffee. Mine was $8.55 and I tipped $1.25. This is a special occasion coffee drink for me. The special occasion is we're really close to Christmas now and I've got to get all the peppermint consumed while I can!
