Mother's Day Weekend Brunch at The Garrison

Two mouthwatering brunch dishes from The Garrison in Ballard.  For Mother's Day weekend, my family and I dined at The Garrison . This is a locally owned Oyster and Seafood house located in Ballard. I started with a Sunset Espresso Martini. This had Amaro, Licor 43, Cold Brew, and Boomsma Herbal. I didn't really enjoy their version of the drink, and I should have known by reading the ingredients it would be different than the classic cocktail made with espresso. Unfortunately, we didn't really care for my husband's drink, an Almond Croissant Sidecar either. This had a bunch of ingredients and featured Cognac, but we didn't find it very tasty. He did however order a Manhattan later in the meal, and this classic martini was much better.  My sons shared the Chicken and Waffles. This was a pretty standard version of the classic brunch dish. It was made with Cornmeal Waffles and came with hot sauce, syrup, and honey butter. The chicken was seasoned nicely and was nice a...

Lunch at Salty's at the SEA Airport

The Evergreen Avocado Toast from Salty's at the SEA airport.

In December of 2022, the SEA airport got some new eateries. Salty's was one of them, and it's located in the re-opened Central Terminal. My family and I flew out of SEA airport recently when we went to the Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. Since it was around lunchtime, we ate at Salty's. We've dined at their location on Alki Beach a couple of times and really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, they don't have a website for the airport location, so it's hard to look up their menu besides a few blurry photos on Yelp.

Since it was before lunch, we ordered from their brunch menu. My husband and I shared an order of the Evergreen Avocado Toast. One order comes with three pieces. It tasted fresh and we liked the grape tomatoes and cheese. Our sons shared an order of typical brunch food. There was bacon, sausage, potatoes, and eggs. My husband and I also shared a cocktail. It had Grey Goose Vodka, ginger, and pear. This brunch martini was strong and tasted like a Lemon Drop. It was a tasty drink and highly recommended by our server. Our server was friendly and accommodating, telling us about his family and asking us about our Disney trip.

If you like watching planes, there's 60-foot-tall windows looking out to the airfield. Salty's at the SEA is a solid option for sit-down dining before your flight. My family and I like to have a warm, nourishing meal before we fly. Check this spot out at SEA airport next time you travel.
