Mother's Day Weekend Brunch at The Garrison

Two mouthwatering brunch dishes from The Garrison in Ballard.  For Mother's Day weekend, my family and I dined at The Garrison . This is a locally owned Oyster and Seafood house located in Ballard. I started with a Sunset Espresso Martini. This had Amaro, Licor 43, Cold Brew, and Boomsma Herbal. I didn't really enjoy their version of the drink, and I should have known by reading the ingredients it would be different than the classic cocktail made with espresso. Unfortunately, we didn't really care for my husband's drink, an Almond Croissant Sidecar either. This had a bunch of ingredients and featured Cognac, but we didn't find it very tasty. He did however order a Manhattan later in the meal, and this classic martini was much better.  My sons shared the Chicken and Waffles. This was a pretty standard version of the classic brunch dish. Welcome to December

December has arrived! That means the holidays are here and Seattle is once again aglow with lights. One of the things my family enjoys doing every December is walking around Downtown Seattle and checking out the holiday displays. We just happened to drive past Westlake Park and see their new display. There were lights everywhere and there were a few people taking selfies. This is a safe and fun festive activity since it's outside and people are pretty spread out around the park. I'm glad that the city is decorated even though we're still in a pandemic.

The Space Needle is also once again lit up with its tree on top. We drove to Kerry Park to check it out the scene there and take in the views. I'll be getting more photos later in the month, too. The Bon Marche Star is a little different this year and now does a special light display. We drove by it, but I couldn't get any decent shots from the car. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and spending time with my family.
