Lunch at the Hi-Life in Ballard

Ballard has many kid friendly restaurants so its not difficult to find a place for lunch. Our family chose the Hi-Life. The restaurant is located in a 106 year old Firehouse, so it's a fun point of conversation for kids. They also have a kid's menu that features Mickey Mouse Pancakes and for dessert, a cookie the child can decorate at the table. To drink, I sipped a refreshing Mimosa and my husband had a Bloody Mary. Our boys each ordered the Mickey Mouse Pancakes and a hotdog to share. I had the Local Strawberry Salad. It had arugula, goat cheese, strawberries, almonds, and a red wine vinaigrette. My husband had the Chilaquiles-tortilla chips sautéed with a tomatillo salsa then topped with avocado, sunny side up eggs, cotija and pico de gallo, and black beans. For dessert, our boys each ordered a cookie to decorate themselves. When they were finished, the server whisked them back to the kitchen to bake. About fifteen minutes later, the cookies were brought back to eat. They were tasty cookies, a shortbread cookie with mini chocolate chips and sprinkles. In fact, the whole lunch was tasty and I left full and satisfied.
