I went on the Seattle Ultimate Coffee Tour
One of the stops on the Seattle Ultimate Coffee Tour was at Ghost Alley Espresso, where we tried a Mocha.
Are you a coffee lover who enjoys visiting local spots, while learning about the history of coffee? Then a coffee tour is for you! I was recently invited to go on the Seattle Ultimate Coffee Tour. The company who does these tours are US Ghost Adventures. They offer paranormal ghost tours, haunted pub crawls, history walks, and food tours all around the country.
I chose to do the coffee tour and ended up really liking the whole experience. The tour took place in and around Pike Place Market. We had a friendly and informative guide, Zack, who took our group to five local Seattle hidden gems. This was my first food/drink tour, and it definitely won't be my last!

I met my guide, Zack, and the rest of the group in front of Anchorhead Coffee, right next to Pike Place Market. We went inside and grabbed a table, and Zack got each of us a cup of drip coffee. He talked about the history of coffee, the beans, and the differences between drip coffee and espresso. He first had us try the aroma of the coffee, and we all had different reactions. I thought the coffee smelled like hazelnuts and had a nutty flavor, but it was actually apple and cinnamon. This coffee was full of flavor and didn't need any cream or sugar.
After trying the drip coffee at Anchorhead Coffee, we walked through Pike Place Market past the original Starbucks. Zack told us the history of the company and its imprint on the cafe coffee culture here in Seattle and around the world.
Our next stop on the coffee tour was to a local spot I've been wanting to try for a while- Storyville Coffee. Here, we didn't try any coffee, but we did try the best sticky bun I've ever eaten. It was oh so sweet and full of caramel and even came with some frosting to pour over the bun. Perfection! This cozy coffee shop is located upstairs, inside the market.
There's plenty of seating inside Storyville Coffee, but a seat by this warm fireplace on a December day would be just the ticket.
I just had to take a selfie with my sticky bun!
Another local coffee spot I've been wanting to try was Ghost Alley Espresso. Luckily for me, this was our next stop on the tour. This walk-up coffee spot has lots of history, including tales of a ghost! Here, we each tried a small mocha with a surprise flavor. Mine was coconut, which was so chocolaty and rich! Then we walked back through the market while sipping our mochas, and Zack told us more history of Pike Place Market. I've lived here for 25 years, but even I learned so much about the city and coffee on the tour.
My cup of cold brew from Pike St. Coffee. You can see the cold brew machine in the background. At this point in the coffee tour, I was feeling over caffeinated and only took a couple of sips of the cold brew. I am a lightweight when it comes to caffeine, and I didn't feel any pressure on the tour to finish all of my coffees!
The last stop on the tour was at Fonte Coffee. They are located on 1st Ave by Pike Place Market. Here we each tried a Cappuccino. I had a couple of sips and brought the rest home to finish the next day. Even after being refrigerated, it still tasted flavorful and fresh! Before we knew it, the coffee tour was over and I was feeling the caffeine for sure!
