Dinner at Otter on the Rocks
The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Eggnog cocktail from Otter on the Rocks in West Seattle.
My husband and I visited Otter on the Rocks, a cocktail bar in West Seattle, for holiday drinks and dinner. This modest bar has two floors, with the second floor being for private events. The main floor where we sat felt cozy and festive, with holiday decor all around. The decor was subtle, but still really cute. They currently have a holiday drinks menu, and we tried three of the signature cocktails. The food menu is small, with just several Flatbreads to choose from.
For my first drink, I tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Eggnog cocktail. This holiday drink has aged rum, amontillado sherry, cream, egg, and demerara. The menu described it as a holiday breakfast in a cup. It was topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, too. It tasted like eggnog, rum, and cereal-not a bad combo at all! The drink seemed small because of the ice, and it was gone too quickly.
My husband ordered the Otter Old Fashioned. This was a fun drink since it came garnished with a roasted marshmallow. This holiday cocktail has rye, house caramelized syrup, angostura, orange bitters, and the yummy, toasted marshmallow. Of the three drinks we tried, this one was the winner. The third drink we tried was the Brown Butter Spiced Old Fashioned. This drink looked pretty with the sliced apples on top, but I wasn't a fan of the apple cinnamon flavor. This cocktail has brown butter washed rye, apple cinnamon, clove, allspice, and walnut bitters.
We shared a sausage and red pepper Flatbread. We didn't love it, and I would recommend skipping the food here, and going elsewhere. Post up at one of the cozy tables, order an Otter Old Fashioned with the marshmallow, and take in the mellow holiday vibes.
