The Georgetown Carnival 2026
A Thai Tea Float from the Khanomm House booth at the Georgetown Carnival!
Every June my family and I like to attend the Georgetown Carnival. The main street in Georgetown, Airport Way S, is closed to cars, and the street is filled with food booths, local vendors, stages with live performances, carnival games and more. Some of the local restaurants and bars have outdoor tables, and there's also a beer garden. The event is fun and lively, with a local community and family feel.
This year they had a kitten petting zoo! The Motley Zoo Animal Rescue had an area with nine-week-old kittens to hold. My son and I waited a few minutes in line and then we were able to hold the cutest grey kitten! We loved the experience and we also donated $5 to the organization. We had about five or ten minutes with the kitty, and then we had to say goodbye!
Then I bought a sweet and refreshing Thai Tea Float from Khanomm House. The vanilla ice cream was so good, especially since the day was hot at 80 degrees! We popped into the restaurant Post Pike for some water, and we were surprised when a band came into the restaurant and started playing super loud! It was really funny and random. Then they all went outside and played some more. They were all really good and they even played some Led Zeplin, which sounded amazing.
I bought my sons ice cream sandwiches from Sweet Wheels. They each selected the Double Chocolate Chip Cookie with Mint Ice cream. These were huge and I helped them finish them. The ice cream was melting in the hot afternoon sun. This dessert was delightful and a generous size!
This festival was so much fun, and I already can't wait for next year. The weather was so warm and sunny, and it felt great to get some sun and support some local Seattle spots!
