A Visit to the Volunteer Park Cafe
We visited another incredible cafe/bakery in Seattle, and this one is near Volunteer Park. Volunteer Park Cafe and Pantry has artisan pastries you don't want to miss. This neighborhood cafe was bustling when we went and is a coffee shop, store, cafe, and a bakery, all in one. The pastry case made it hard to choose, but I selected a slice of the Matilda Cake, a chocolate layered cake named from the movie, Matilda. My sons ordered pieces of Focaccia. Then I saw my husband get in line with a can of red wine and I asked him to please buy me a Lavender Shortbread cookie, too. This turned out to be a wise decision, considering how good that cookie was.
We found a table near the window and we shared our goodies. The cake was scrumptious and fudgy, with its multiple layers of chocolate cake and frosting. The cookie had a soft and crumbly shortbread with subtle lavender and sea salt flavors throughout. The bite I had of the Focaccia was also amazing, and I have a feeling anything you get here will be solid. The sips of wine I had also paired really well with the cake! If you find yourself anywhere near this cafe, stop in and get something.
