An Anniversary Lunch at The George Seattle

Nestled inside the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle, you'll find The George, an American Brasserie. The dining room is historic, grand, and has an art-deco feel. The light fixtures are gorgeous, along with the high ceilings. My husband and I made a lunch reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food at The George is PNW cuisine.

We each started with a cocktail. I selected the Copper Old Fashioned. This play on a classic Old Fashioned had Jack Daniel's, caramel, maple, and Frangelico. I could taste notes of each ingredient. The drink was made well and went down strong. He chose a Spring Fling which had Bacardi Silver, Bacardi 8 Dark Rum, pineapple, orange, coconut, and lime. His drink was on the fruity side and didn't taste as strong. My drink was the winner of the two.

For our lunch, I ordered the Smash Burger and Fries. I wasn't a fan of this burger since it was overcooked. I like my beef on the rarer side. The bacon jalapeño jam, along with the Beecher's Cheese, helped the burger along, but didn't completely save it. He got the Lobster Roll, which was his first ever Lobster Roll. We weren't impressed with the presentation, and it looked different than the ones we've seen online. This version had more of a lobster salad mixture than the traditional ones.

The food didn't wow us, but we enjoyed the cocktails, the ambiance, and the service. We've also dined at The Olympic Bar, which is steps away in the hotel lobby, and loved our experience there. Both The George and The Olympic Bar are beautiful, and I'd highly recommend stopping in at both for drinks!
