Dinner at Parlor Pizza Bar

For our last dinner in Chicago we headed to the River North area and dined at Parlor Pizza Bar. We made a reservation and I'm glad we did because the place was packed. We were seated at a high table with stools which worked out, since our boys weren't able to get down and run around as easily. This is probably the loudest restaurant I'd even been too. We could not hear each other talk and I had to shout to talk to our server. It was a Friday night in Chicago, so a lot of hip professionals were hanging out.

Parlor Pizza Bar has a few locations in Chicago and they serve Neapolitan style pizza. They use an imported Italian wood-stove to make the pizzas. They have a full bar and lots of sides to choose from. What brought me there were the desserts. They looked so indulgent and pretty, and just right for sharing. Chicago has awesome desserts, so I wanted to take advantage.

I started with a Prickly Pear Margarita. It was a colorful and strong cocktail. We also shared one of their salads, the Shaved Cauliflower and Baby Greens Salad. This fresh salad had salted pistachios, golden raisins, scallions, pickled sweet peppers, and white balsamic vinaigrette. We also shared the Parlor Pizza Bread. It was a huge serving and very cheesy. There were large slices of pepperoni inside and it was easy to pull apart each piece. It came with a serving of marinara sauce for dipping.

Then for dessert, I chose one of their TACOlatos. I picked the Unicorn Dreams one and it had Birthday Cake ice cream, gummy worms, fruity marshmallows, rainbow airheads, blue-raspberry sauce, whipped cream, and a confetti sprinkles shell. It was really sweet, duh! It looked cool with all of the candy. Luckily, we shared one and didn't order two! When we left, I took a picture of the Instaworthy pizza wings wall. What a fun and unique restaurant in the River North area!
