Whiskey Cocktail Flights at Westland Distillery
My husband and I returned to Westland Distillery's tasting room to try another cocktail flight! Westland Distillery is a local Seattle whiskey distillery in the SODO area, and they offer whiskey tastings and cocktail flights in their tasting room. They currently have two seasonal cocktails and four other ones to choose from. For your flight you can choose four 0.5 oz whiskey cocktails for $15. If you want just a cocktail and not a flight, they're also $15.
This time we tried the two seasonal cocktails and two others. Each cocktail was made with a different whiskey. The seasonal ones were the Pear Pressure which has Westland Beer Cask Finish whiskey, pear nectar, ginger syrup, and lemon juice. This one was our favorite of the four. It was sweet and tangy and tasted similar to something I'd order in a restaurant. The other one was called an End of Summer. This seasonal one had Westland Wine Cask Finish whiskey, Letterpress Amaro, house made blackberry shrub, and black walnut bitters. This one wasn't as yummy and was our least favorite of the four. We didn't enjoy the combination of blackberry and walnut bitters.
The Midnight Old Fashioned and The Night Watch were the other two we tried in our flights. The Old Fashioned had Westland Flagship, cold brew simple syrup, cardamom, and orange bitters, and dehydrated orange. This one had a lot going on and took away from the classic flavors we love in a standard Old Fashioned. But we appreciated the uniqueness of the drink, and we love trying new things. The Night Watch was our other favorite of the four. This cocktail had Watchpost Whiskey, coffee liqueur, Seattle Strong cold brew, simple syrup, orange bitters, and dehydrated orange. This one was similar to an Espresso Martini with an orange essence.
The Pear Pressure.
When we were done with our flight tastings, we bought a pin like last time. They actually had different pins this time, so I just had to get one!
They'll soon be changing their seasonal cocktails in December, so we'll probably return then to try the new ones. We had a lovely time sampling our whiskey cocktail flights at Westland Distillery!
