Lunch at Taco City Taqueria during Halloween time
Cheers to Halloween themed drinks and Birthday lunches! Now, feed me tacos and tell me I'm pretty!
When I saw on Taco City's social media they were all decorated for Halloween, I knew I wanted to eat there on my birthday. We last ate there in February and it looked so cute for Valentine's Day. They do a superb job with their decor and themed cocktails. Check out my post here from that visit!
We also always enjoy the Mexican cuisine, too, especially the Birria Tacos. My husband and I went for lunch, and we tried two Birria items, the Birria Mac and Cheese and the Birria Bao Buns. The Mac and Cheese had Hot Cheetos pieces on top, and the mac and cheese was nice and creamy. The Birria beef was tender and savory but could have been a little saltier.
The serving was big enough for two people to share since we also tried another item. The Bao Buns had a thick bun similar to corn bread. They were served with a spicy salsa and a consommé for dipping. We appreciated the fusion aspect of both dishes, since you don't usually see Birria and Mac and Cheese together, but it really worked. And you never see Birria and Bao Buns together, but it was unique and tasty.
To drink, I had a Poison Apple Margarita which was garnished with a Werther's Original caramel apple candy that was delightful. The drink itself was super tasty, a perfect blend of apple and tequila. It was also a strong cocktail and thankfully, wasn't poisonous like its name suggested! The Halloween decor in the dining room was tastefully done and more of a cutesy Halloween and not spooky. My favorite! My husband had a shot of Tequilla which came in a cool shot glass.
They have a daily happy hour and lunch specials, making this Mexican spot in Columbia City a win for any occasion, even if it's not your birthday or a special holiday!
