Lunch and Dessert in Pioneer Square
Cocktails from Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar in Pioneer Square.
If you're looking for a good quality lunch or dinner spot in historic Pioneer Square, check out Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar. Located in the Washington Shoe Building, this restaurant has the original brick walls and wood floors and feels very Pioneer Square. They're a local business with two other locations, serving fresh seafood. The seafood comes from their family-owned and operated farm- Taylor Shellfish Farms. I would recommend bringing out of town guests here, especially if they enjoy fresh and fried oysters, along with wine to pair it with.
My husband and I went to Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar for lunch. I started with a signature cocktail, the Pear-a-Normal Activity. This drink was created by the bartender and has Mezcal, Pear Puree, vanilla, and lime. It was as good as it sounds. A little smoky from the mezcal, and a little sweet and sour from the pear and the lime. A very unique and refreshing cocktail. He enjoyed a Rocket Man, their version of a Manhattan.
My husband ordered an Oyster Po' Boy for his lunch. This sandwich had fried oysters on Macrina Bakery bread, and it came with a side of tasty hand-cut fries. I went a little lighter than normal and ordered a Ceasar Salad. This was a huge salad, and the dressing was very light, almost not noticeable. There were a couple of Bocarones (fresh anchovies) on top for some added flavor. I just had a salad since I wanted to walk a few blocks over to a French bakery for dessert!
Mirabelle by Orphee opened this year and transported me to France when I walked in. The holiday decor by the front door was so cute and festive. We selected a chocolate mousse coated in a chocolate and hazelnut shell and topped with a very light hazelnut buttercream. The portion was pretty big, especially for how rich it was. We took it to go and enjoyed it at home. The croissants also looked delicious, along with their other tarts and French desserts. They have seating inside this cozy bakery, so you can sit and sip on a glass of red wine along with your chocolate tart.
This holiday tree in front of Mirabelle by Orphee looked gorgeous and I loved the red bows!
