Taste of White Center 2023

A Pineapple Shaved Iced from Patrick's in White Center.

Summer is here in Seattle so that means lots of outdoor events! This weekend we attended Taste of White Center. This was a food event and the money went to the White Center Food Bank. They were selling tickets for $5, and each ticket got you a food or drink item from the local, participating businesses.

A fun photo spot in White Center is this huge mural.

This was their second year holding the event, but it was our first year attending. We purchased eight tickets for the four of us. We received a map with the restaurants that were participating. The event was from 11-4 pm, but by the time we arrived they were sold out of a lot of the items. We started getting our food items with our tickets around 12:45.

Our tickets and a helpful map with a list of the participating spots.

Our first stop was at Puffy Panda, and they were out of their event item which were three cream puffs. But we went inside this cute panda-themed shop anyway and bought some Macarons. My sons couldn't resist selecting a macaron from the bright display. One tried the Ferro Rocher macaron and the other had a Tiramisu flavored macaron.

A couple of tasty looking macarons from Puffy Panda!

By this time we were pretty hungry so out next stop was something savory. We got a couple of eggrolls from Que Chevere. One ticket got us two eggrolls with a side sauce. We were supposed to get Empanadas, but it looked like they were out.

They had a DJ spinning some of our favorite songs. It definitely added to the event and made it more lively!

Another couple of storefronts down was the Lumber Yard Bar, where their event item was a Fried Chicken Slider with Mac and Cheese. This spot was busy and we were unsure of where to get our food item. I first went inside the bar, then I found out I needed to order my item with a server outside.

I tracked down the server and gave him my ticket. We waited about fifteen or twenty minutes, and we got our yummy item. They sold out right after they made ours. This was a delicious Chicken Sandwich. We loved the flavors of this one and our boys enjoyed the Mac and Cheese. We all shared one order, so we were still hungry and ready for our next spot.

I just had to get a pic of the adorable Courgi since they're my son's favorite dogs.

At Proletariat Pizza their food item for the event was a slice of pizza and a can of soda. We went inside and ordered our slices and they were ready in about ten minutes. We love the pizza here and have dined here many times. Their pizza is some of the best in Seattle. I had a slice of Pepperoni, my sons had Cheese, and my husband had a slice of Sun-Warmed Margherita. The pizza was satisfying and filling.

By now we had two tickets left! It was time for dessert. We headed to Patrick's Cafe and Bakery. Their item was Hawaiian Shaved Ice. You could choose from either Pineapple, Strawberry, or Bubblegum. We chose Pineapple. The container it came it was unique and fun. They only sell their shaved ice in the summertime. It was refreshing and tasty and was my sons first time trying it.

While we were enjoying our Shaved Ice, my husband had a pint of Abundance IPA from Future Primitive Brewing.

Then we were out of tickets! We walked back to our car and headed home. This was such a fun summer food event and we felt good about the money we spent going towards a good cause.
