Mother's Day Weekend Brunch at The Garrison

Two mouthwatering brunch dishes from The Garrison in Ballard.  For Mother's Day weekend, my family and I dined at The Garrison . This is a locally owned Oyster and Seafood house located in Ballard. I started with a Sunset Espresso Martini. This had Amaro, Licor 43, Cold Brew, and Boomsma Herbal. I didn't really enjoy their version of the drink, and I should have known by reading the ingredients it would be different than the classic cocktail made with espresso. Unfortunately, we didn't really care for my husband's drink, an Almond Croissant Sidecar either. This had a bunch of ingredients and featured Cognac, but we didn't find it very tasty. He did however order a Manhattan later in the meal, and this classic martini was much better.  My sons shared the Chicken and Waffles. This was a pretty standard version of the classic brunch dish. It was made with Cornmeal Waffles and came with hot sauce, syrup, and honey butter. The chicken was seasoned nicely and was nice a...

Dinner at Frolik Kitchen and Cocktails | Dining in their heated rooftop tent

On the 5th floor of the Motif Hotel in Downtown Seattle is Frolik Kitchen and Cocktails. We enjoyed a fun dinner in their heated tent!

Once again in Seattle, indoor dining is prohibited because of Covid-19. But this time, restaurants are allowed to offer outdoor seating. A lot of places have gotten creative with tents and heaters. One spot offering this is Frolik Kitchen and Cocktails in downtown. My husband and I had a date night there a couple of years ago and took advantage of the sunny evening, the refreshing drinks, and the views of the city. This time, the late fall night gave us cozy vibes and we stayed plenty warm from the heaters. The tent above us was clear so we could still see the city.

Kids are allowed at Frolik so we made it a family affair and brought our boys. They're finally at that age where they're behaved at the table and we can all relax and enjoy ourselves. One thing I like about Frolik is their drink list. They have a nice variety of creative and delicious cocktails. For an extra $3 you can add dry ice to any drink. I started with a Patio Punch with dry ice. And my husband tried a Rye You Doin Me Like That.

To eat, we shared three apps. We had some fries, Grand Central Bakery Rolls, and the Caramelized Onion Dip with Crostini. We tried a few more drinks. I had a unique shot called a PB and J Shot that had Screwball Peanut Whiskey, Baileys, and Chambord. It was really strong and tasted just like a Peanut Butter and Jelly! He also tried a Strawberry-Cider Rita and The Motif- G plus T. Both drinks were tasty and very pretty!

For dessert we shared the Cookies and Cream. This dessert came with two bowls of vanilla ice cream, six cookies, and a shot of espresso. Yum! All four of us had a blast at Frolik and we can't wait to go back. We indulged and really enjoyed our dinner dining outside on the rooftop!
