A Family Portrait Session at Jefferson Park

"Everyone look at Mom!" A sweet family pose during a portrait session I recently shot at Seattle's Jefferson Park.

Last week I did a family portrait session in Beacon Hill at Jefferson Park. This Seattle Park is a favorite of my family, and it quite big, the sixth largest in the city. It features a playground with two ziplines and slides, a play structure, a huge field, basketball courts and even a Skatepark. There's a nice view of downtown and the Olympic Mountains on the upper part of the park. This is a solid pick for portraits because of all trees and various backgrounds.

The session I did was a combination of family portraits featuring a family of four, along with their extended family for some cousin photos. Since the eldest daughter is graduating high school, she changed into her cap and gown halfway through the session for some grad photos. I also did her Senior photos last fall, which I'll link down below.

I shot a variation of couple photos of just the parents, the two siblings, all four family members together, then the cousins, and some solo photos of the high school grad! The evening in Seattle was beautiful, with sunny weather and the light was getting close to golden hour as we were almost done.

There's something magic about cousins. It's a bond that never goes away, and the special memories you make with your cousins as kids are core memories you'll carry forever. These cousins are especially close, and I could see how much they love and respect each other. I could tell they have a lot of fun together, and they must do a lot of 'cousin shenanigans' like my cousins and I do!

I was able to capture some special moments for this close-knit family!

Couple photos are always a good idea during a family portrait session! The parents are the foundation of the family, and when the kiddos grow up, it will be the two of you, just like how your story began.

Sibling photos are so fun, and there's so many poses to do. Hopefully if you have a sibling, you'll be close and be friends forever! There's nothing like shared memories with a sibling to reflect on your childhoods together.

Cap and gown time for the graduate!

I had her pose like she is looking toward her future. The only way to go is forward! Go class of 2026!

Some more cousin photos with the graduate! Her family is so proud of her accomplishments.

In this sweet photo, the youngest cousin got to wear the graduation gown. She felt so special and it was a fun moment!

This photo session captured the special moments for this family as their oldest daughter was getting ready to graduate and leave the nest for college. Family photos are something no one ever regrets doing, especially since kids grow up fast and leave us before we know it. Time is so fleeting, so make sure you capture the important moments with your loved ones!
