A Birthday Dinner at Bridgewater Fish House and Zebra Bar in Florence, OR
I got to celebrate my birthday while we were in Florence, Oregon. I wanted a nice dinner out, so I chose the Bridgewater Fish House and Zebra Bar. It's located on Bay St. in the Old Town area of Florence. The interior was bright and spacious with large windows looking out onto Bay St. The zebra theme inside was subtle, yet notable and unique. The food and service felt more upscale than what I'm used to on the Oregon Coast. Just what this birthday girl was looking for.
We started with drinks. We tried a delicious Pineapple Martini which we both loved. The other cocktail was a little too tart for my liking, but it was packed with Marionberries. We decided to share a salad and an entrée. The salad was just plain awesome and was packed with fresh goodies. The Mandarin Poppy Seed Salad had sweet poppy seed dressing, avocados, bleu cheese, red onion, hazelnuts, and mandarin oranges. The slice of bread that accompanied it was really special. It was a crusty warm sourdough served with butter with herbs.
For our main dish we shared some Mac and Cheese with Salmon. Our boys had the Chicken Strips with Fries. Our Mac and Cheese was everything. It was super cheesy, hot, and filled with yummy fresh salmon.
We skipped dessert at the restaurant because we had purchased some cake at Safeway for my birthday treat. I've always loved the cake from Safeway. It sounds crazy but I just like the soft cake and thick and sweet frosting they use. My son helped me pick out two desserts. He chose a slice of Confetti Birthday Cake and I chose a cupcake with green frosting with a butterfly and unicorn. The four of us shared the two pieces of cake. It was a birthday filled with fun, travel, family, and really tasty food!
