Lunch at goPoke

The fresh poke from goPoke is flown is fresh from Hawaii everyday.  If that doesn't impress you, they also have Pineapple Dole Whips, and I jumped at the chance to try one.  When I took a bite, I was transported back to our honeymoon in Oahu where we ate one at the Dole Plantation.  A big tourist trap, but the dole whips...

Poke is a trendy dish to try in Seattle now with new restaurants opening everywhere.  It's a raw fish salad using Hawaiian ingredients, so if you're not fond of raw fish it may not be for you.  My tastes have become more evolved so I jumped at the chance to try it.  goPoke opened last summer and the concept was pretty cool upon entering.  You choose your type of poke and sides and they assemble it into your bowl in front of you.  You can even sample the poke before you commit.  My husband got the Classic Ahi and the Classic Salmon in his bowl.  It also comes with rice and the sides and toppings you choose.  I selected the Spicy Ahi and the Spicy Aioli Salmon with Guacamole, Ginger, Crab Salad, and Caviar.  I loved the flavor combinations and the poke was the perfect amount of heat.  It was on the spicy side but the dole whip helped with that. 

The goPoke bowls are on the larger side and the servings are a little big.  I was only able to eat half of mine so I really should have shared with my husband, instead of getting two.  But the price point is right on considering how fresh the poke is.  For our kids, we got a Spam Musubi, since they don't eat raw fish yet.  They gobbled it up and seemed to have a liking for the Spam!  All in all, there were some great flavors that I won't soon forget and I'm sure I will have to eat again.
