A Thai Brunch at Soi

On Easter Sunday the search for a quality brunch is important. We found it at Soi, a Thai restaurant on Capital Hill. The concept behind Soi is to showcase how the food really tastes in Thailand. Since I've never been, now I have more of an idea of the different flavors I'd discover there. I started with a glass of Mango juice and my husband ordered a Hot Thai Tea, served French Press style. For food, I wanted something "brunchy" so some French toast and waffles were calling my name. Since I was sharing with my sons, I ordered the Massaman French Toast and the Coconut Waffles. Both super carbolicious, but it was Easter and I was sharing, so why not? The French toast had Cinnamon, Cardamon, with mace dipped French bread, and served with condensed milk peanut butter whip cream. The Coconut Waffles had shredded, toasted coconut and were served with a hazelnut chocolate whip cream. The star elements of both dishes were the whip creams. I loved both the peanut butter and the hazelnut chocolate and they were the perfect compliments. My husband wanted some sort of Thai noodles, he's not a huge sweets fan like us, so he ordered a bowl of chicken curry noodles. I can't remember the name of the dish, but he enjoyed the high level of spice and the tender chicken. It did look tasty but I was enjoying my carb fest with my sons too much to remember to try it. Soi's brunch was unique, flavorful, and authentic to what we'd find in Thailand. Big flavors and high quality ingredients made for an enjoyable meal.
