Three Spots to dine in the Flathead Valley | MT 2025
During our week in the Flathead Valley of NW MT visiting my family, we dined at several restaurants. We ate at Craggy Range in Whitefish, Montana Club in Kalispell, and Gunsight Saloon in Columbia Falls. The last two places we've eaten at before and posted about, but I wanted to showcase them here anyway.
For lunch one day, we left our sons with my mom, and my husband and I dined in downtown Whitefish at Craggy Range Bar and Grill. Here we found the strongest drinks of the trip, and they were probably the smallest in size. He ordered the Smoked Old Fashioned and it arrived at our table with a tall bottle of smoke. He was instructed to pour it into his cocktail and make it smokey! The cocktail didn't look it had much liquid, but the flavors were on point and the drink was perfectly made.
I selected the Tourist Trap drink. This is a huckleberry cocktail with 44 North Huckleberry Vodka, Sweet and Sour, and huckleberry syrup. This cocktail was crafted well and tasted incredible. It was really strong considering I couldn't taste much alcohol, and the drink looked small. These kinds of drinks are dangerous, and one round is just right!
To eat for our lunch, I ordered the Gormet Mac and Cheese with BBQ Pork. This was one of the best things I ate during our trip! It was packed with flavor because of the tender meat and cheesy pasta. This is a win-win combination. My husband ordered the Teriyaki Beef Bowl. He liked the flavors and the fresh veggies, but the beef was a little overcooked. This is a fun sports bar and grill in Whitefish with strong drinks and tasty eats! They also have a location in Henderson, NV.
The Montana Club is a chain with locations around the state. I dined here a few years ago and you can see my post here. I like how large their menu is and their selection of specialty cocktails. The interior is very rustic MT, and a big fireplace dominates the dining room. This restaurant is where you might go for a nice steak dinner and a celebration. We went for lunch during a rainy day during our trip. The Montana Club is located in Kalispell which makes it the perfect spot to dine on a shopping day.
I started with an Espresso Martini and my husband ordered the Huckelberry Bourbon Smash. We also shared a Pineapple Upside Down Cake drink. I like how unique their cocktails are and that they use local produce and liquor from local distilleries. The fresh huckleberries in the bottom of my husband's drink were very enjoyable. He ordered the Chicken and Waffles for his lunch. The serving was big, and the piece of chicken was very crispy and tasty. I ordered the Gyro Mini Tacos and although they looked appetizing and fresh, the pitas were on the harder side.
The last spot we dined at on our trip was Gunsight Saloon in Columbia Falls. You can check out the post from my previous visit here. My family loves this local spot for the outdoor live music, fun vibes, and delicious cocktails and bites. At Gunsight Saloon you order your food at the counter and then grab a table. There are also two bars, one inside and one outside. We grabbed a table outside and then my husband ordered us a round of Old Fashioneds.
I ordered us two of the Shared Plates to split. Our kids got items from the kid's menu. We shared the Dirty Fries and the Pork Belly Burnt Ends. The fries had shredded beef, white cheddar, and pickled peppers. These hit the spot, and we couldn't get enough of them. The Burnt Ends were packed with flavor and the garlic honey sauce on them had a really nice flavor to it. These were juicy and tender pieces of pork belly. We also really liked the deep-fried pickles served alongside.
We decided to get another round of cocktails. He chose a Raspberry Smash and I ordered a Coconut Margarita. This one was so good and one of the tastiest items from our trip! Gunsight Saloon has become a regular spot for us when we visit Montana. We love the vibe and how fun this spot is!
