A Saddle Salted Carmel Sundae from the Clydesdale Creamery in Whitefish, MT.
When on vacation, and the sweet tooth strikes, you've got to know where to satisfy it. Here are four spots in the Flathead Valley of Montana that will be sure to satisfy your cravings! All four are located in either Columbia Falls and Whitefish, and one is bubble tea, which I consider a treat to add to my list. These four are the spots I visited on my latest trip to visit family.
First up is the relatively new Clydesdale Creamy in Whitefish. This spot serves over the top milkshakes, the first in MT! They're a Milkshake Saloon with a big menu full of options. It seemed overwhelming at first, but the person at the counter walked us through it. Since we didn't want one of their specialty milkshakes, my sons a Cookies and Cream shake and my other selected a scoop of Cookies and Cream in a cone.
I went with a Saddle Salted Caramel Sundae. This sundae looked exquisite and over-the-top, but not giant like some of the milkshakes they make. This sundae had Caramel Swirl Ice Cream, Caramel Sauce, a Vanilla Frosted rim with crushed cashews and marshmallows, and then it was topped with some whipped cream, and a Liege Waffle. I didn't love the cashews, but overall, the sundae was super satisfying and sweet in the best way. The interior of the ice cream shop was so cute and had a horse theme, perfect for this area in MT! I love the over-the-top milkshake trend, and we've had the delight of trying several around Seattle and Las Vegas. But it's fun to see MT getting unique and trendy food spots like this one!

In Columbia Falls, you'll find a new Teriyaki place, but we visited for the bubble tea. Teriyaki Kitchen is located on Nucleus Ave, and we stopped in to order a Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Tapioca pearls. They use condensed milk and a powder for their tea. The quality was great! The tapioca pearls were just the right consistency, not too hard or overly chewy. The flavor of the Brown Sugar Milk Tea was nice and sweet.
Also in Columbia Falls is my favorite spot to go for ice cream,
Farm to Table Ice Cream. They also have locations around the Flathead Valley in Kalispell and Bigfork. They make small-batch and handcrafted ice cream in a variety of flavors. Their ingredients are sourced from local MT farmers. On this visit I ordered a scoop of Huckleberry ice cream in a cup. My son got Milk and Cookies ice cream, also in a cup. The scoops here are really generous, at least double what a typical scoop is. The price for one scoop is $6, which is really reasonable for an ice cream shop. My Huckleberry ice cream was so smooth and creamy and packed with that sweet and tart flavor Huckleberries are famous for. My son loved his ice cream, and he was a happy camper after he finished his scoop!
The last place for a sweet treat we visited on our trip was in downtown Whitefish at
Whitefish Gift and Gear. The reason we popped into this store is because they have a Huckleberry Patch outpost inside. Here they sell a wide variety of Huckleberry treats, including fudge. I bought a piece of Huckleberry Fudge, and it was delicious. I also walked around the huge gift shop. I was happy to see a Huckleberry Patch outpost here since I didn't visit the main location in Hungry Horse on this trip.
