The Bellevue Family 4th and Dinner at the Lincoln South Food Hall

Happy Birthday, America! Today is the 4th of July and there were many events in the Seattle area to celebrate at. The firework shows started at 10 pm, but we didn't want to be out too late and deal with the crowds and traffic back home. We decided to go out later in the afternoon and go home around 7:30. We hung out in Bellevue at the downtown park for the Family 4th event. This started at 5 pm and there was live music and lots of vendors. They were giving out free pins and small flags, and since I collect pins now, I was happy to grab one.

Before the event started, we grabbed some food at the Lincoln South Food Hall, a short walk away in the mall area. This food hall has some solid options. We wanted to try some Detroit-Style pizza from KODE Pizza. They have Detroit-style pizza with Korean flavors. We just wanted some classic Pepperoni. The slice was huge, and the corners were nice and caramelized. The crust had a good chew and was thick. This was tasty, but not the best Detroit-style we've tried. If you order a slice, they're just reheating it, so I bet a whole pie would taste really fresh.

For dessert, we bought a cookie from Midnight Cookie Company, also in the food hall. My son and I each chose a Birthday Cake cookie, and it had 4th of July sprinkles on it. So cute and patriotic! This cookie was good, and a nice size. They had other unique flavors such as S'mores and a Sweet and Salty cookie with pretzels and Heath bars. After eating, we walked over to the 4th of July event. Our sons played at the playground for a bit and then I bought my son some mini doughnuts with cinnamon and sugar. By this time, the crowds for the event were getting thick, so we headed home.

This was a fun event to hang out at and celebrate the holiday. Even if we didn't stay for fireworks, it was still a fun day! Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
