A Visit to the Cougar Mountain Zoo and Dinner at WildFin in Issaquah
My family checked out the Cougar Mountain Zoo, located in Issaquah. This zoo is underrated and tickets for adults are $15, a little less than the Seattle zoo. A lot of my friends didn't know about this zoo when I mentioned we visited. It wasn't very busy, and the grounds were so pretty with views of the Issaquah highlands, lots of trees, and animal sculptures for posing next to.
What about the animals? There were a good number of animals to view. This zoo isn't large, but you do get to see a fair amount. We saw some macaws, wolfs, alpacas, reindeer, a kangaroo, and more. We even got to see two sloths! Thier names were Rain and Forest, and they were sleeping when we visited them! I always wanted to see a Sloth and this zoo has them.
For dinner in the area, we dined at WildFin American Grill. This is a chain with locations in Washington, Oregon, and Utah, and they've been opened in Issaquah since 2011. They're an upscale spot serving fresh seafood and steaks. They have a great kids' three course dinner option with a veggie starter, an entree with fries or fruit, an ice cream sundae, and a soda for around $10. Both of my sons ordered this. One had the Chicken Strips and the other had the Fettuccini Alfredo as their entrées.
I started with a Huckleberry Collins and my husband ordered a Manhattan cocktail. He had the Spicy Tuna Roll, and I had the Ahi Poke. Mine was good, but covered in red onions, which I peeled off. The Poke tasted really fresh, and the serving was a decent size. Our server was really sweet, and we felt well taken care of.
We loved our time exploring Issaquah at the zoo and at WildFin!
