Mother's Day Brunch at Cafe Flora

For Mother's Day this year, my family and I had the prix fixe brunch at Café Flora. There was a starter, an entrée and a dessert, and the kid's had a menu with three courses, too. Café Flora is a Vegetarian restaurant so even though the brunch didn't have meat, the intricate and creative flavors more than made up for it. The Mother's Day Brunch is their busiest day so I made sure I made reservations way in advance. The brunch felt fancy and special but the space was bright with a laid back feel. The food was high in flavor and quality and it was plated beautifully. I'm sure there were many happy Moms who enjoyed the brunch.
My husband and I each drank a Mimosa-mine an Orange juice Mimosa and my husband's was a Cranberry Ginger Cider Mimosa.
The Tropical Berry Plate arrived first. I enjoyed the juicy pineapple the most.
Along with the fruit they served us the Fresh Baked Pastries. There were housmade croissants and petite blueberry lavender scones along with a midnight berry jam and a citrus marmalade.
One of the three choices for the entrée portion was the Spring Benedict. The dish had poached eggs served on top of grilled English muffins along with kale, avocado, and charred tomato in a hollandaise sauce. It was served with a petite asparagus salad. This dish was my husband's choice of entrée.
One of my sons had this Chocolate Strawberry French Toast and it was his lucky day because the fudgy chocolate sauce served on the side was really something else.
Another choice for the kids' entrée was the Egg Scramble, served with crispy potatoes and fruit, and my other son had this one.
My choice for my entrée was the Crunchy Strawberry French Toast. It was very creative and had a brioche from Columbia City Bakery. It was dipped in a spiced batter with crunchy fueillentine, with fresh strawberries, lemon ginger mascarpone, and a strawberry basil sauce coulis.
There were two dessert choices for the grown up's menu. One of them was this Strawberry Lemon Mousse Tower. It had a lemon mousse, a ginger cookie crust, fresh strawberry, meringue, and a white balsamic sauce. It was overly tart from the lemon, but the ginger cookie crust gave it a nice balance.
The dessert for the kid's was this Heart Shaped Strawberry Sundae. The hot fudge was so decadent and the chocolate heart was edible and so delicious.
And finally, the other dessert choice on the grown up's menu was this Chocolate Rhubarb Rose Trifle. This pretty dessert had a chocolate sponge, a white chocolate mousse, rhubarb rose compote, and was topped with an almond poppy cookie.
Three pretty desserts! I hope everyone had a wonderful and sweet Mother's Day!
