A Visit to Top Pot Doughnuts on Alki

Top Pot Doughnuts are considered the best in Seattle and they have at least ten stores in the area. We checked out their Alki Beach location and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of doughnuts. I chose three for the four of us to share. The Chocolate Cake Doughnut, the Salted Caramel Old Fashioned, and the Cookies and Cream Doughnut. The frosting on the salted caramel was a proper layer of salty and sweet flavor. It was my favorite of the three because I'm a sucker for salted caramel, and isn't there just something about an Old Fashioned Doughnut? Combine the two and I thought about that doughnut long after I finished it. I was excited to see the Cookies and Cream one because it was unique and something I've never had. There was a nice coating of white frosting, then broken pieces of Oreos. The cake doughnut is already so tasty, but combine the Oreos on top and we're in doughnut heaven. The Chocolate Cake Doughnut was a substantial doughnut, hearty and cake like. The chocolate frosting on top rounded out this winner of a doughnut and had us salivating for more. Yep, there's a reason Top Pot's so popular, because the doughnuts are really something. After pigging out on doughnuts, we took a walk along the beach, picking up shells and watching the boats since it was opening day of boating season. The view of the city across the way sparkled at us in the bright sun as we soaked up some Vitamin D and walked off the doughnuts.
