A Weekday Brunch at The Dressing Room: Bistro and Bar by Can Can
Brunch eats from The Dressing Room: Bistro and Bar at Pike Place Market.
Since it was such a warm and sunny May day, my husband and I wanted to walk around Pike Place Market and grab lunch. We decided to try The Dressing Room: Bistro and Bar by Can Can. Can Can itself is a 120-seat dinner theatre and production house. There's also a restaurant which serves brunch every day, along with lunch and dinner. The food is French Pacific-Northwest inspired. Their signature drink menu is full of unique cocktails with a fun circus theme to match the ambiance and Can Can shows. They have an outdoor patio, which sits above Post Alley, perfect for people watching and soaking up the sun.
We each tried two drinks. I started with a Strongman drink. This was a chocolate-covered churro inspired drink with a Cinnamon Toast Crunch rim. The drink was on the smaller side but packed a punch and was stronger than it looked. I guess I should have paid more attention to the drink's name! It did taste like a churro and went down quickly. My husband's drink was also fun and was called a Circus Monkey. This drink had the cutest little plastic monkeys as a garnish and was kettle corn inspired. It had popcorn-infused bourbon, and you could taste the kettle corn for sure.
For our second round, I tried a Clown Car and it tasted just like a Strawberry Funnel Cake. This drink was on the sweeter side and reminded me of a Strawberry Italian Soda but spiked and pretty strong! This cocktail had a neat little red balloon as a garnish! His second drink was a Corpse Reviver #2. This cocktail is similar to a Lemon Drop, but instead of Vodka it uses Gin. This one was so refreshing and floral tasting, yum!
For our brunch dishes, I ordered the Fried Chicken and Beignets, and he had a Can Can Madame. This classic French dish had a unique twist since it had cured and grilled pork belly. The sandwich was accompanied by some crispy breakfast potatoes. My dish came with two big pieces of fried chicken which was topped with some spicy honey butter. There were also some Ricotta Beignets, which arrived piping hot. These Beignets were on the denser side and weren't light and fluffy like previous ones I've enjoyed elsewhere. There was a side of maple syrup, and our server brought out some hot sauce for me, which was a great addition to the chicken. I dipped my chicken in all three and it was a very enjoyable lunch!
This spot is a hidden gem, right in the heart of Pike Place Market. Check it out on a weekday when things are on the quieter side. The dishes are hearty and satisfying, and the drinks are fun and eclectic!
