Montana Moments | Summer 2025
For my last post from my recent MT trip, I'm showcasing some of my favorite moments of the week. From beautiful landscapes to some homemade goodies from my mom and sister-in-law using local bounty from their garden, to some hiking, and other activities we did. Thanks for reading along and checking out my photos from my MT trip!
One late afternoon we went to Glacier National Park, about a forty-minute drive from Columbia Falls where my family lives and where I grew up. We met my aunts and my brother's family at Lake McDonald for a picnic at Apgar Campground. We roasted hot dogs and s'mores, and they tasted delicious outside in nature, cooked over a fire.
My mom baked Rhubarb Coffeecake using rhubarb from her garden. We had some for breakfast and it tasted amazing.
Another morning, she made homemade waffles with Chokecherry Syrup. I'm not sure where she got the chokecherries, but growing up, we had bushes by our house that grew them in abundance.
My mom's sunflowers looked so pretty again this summer!
My sister-in-law made us some fresh, huckleberry scones. They were so good for breakfast with some coffee!
This mural, located on Nucleus Ave in Columbia Falls, is nice!
My mom took me to the Bigfork Summer Playhouse for a showing of Catch Me If You Can. It was such a good and entertaining performance. The performers are always not notch at this theatre and rivals what you'd find in NY on Broadway. This is a must for me every summer when I visit.
We hiked parkway up Columbia Mountain in Columbia Falls. We always enjoy this view of the whole valley from above.
After a little hiking we stopped for some Starbucks on the way back to my mom's house. I had the Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew. This was a great drink and got me nice and caffeinated, too!
My aunt wanted to do a little Christmas in July action and got us this great Huckleberry gift set with three baking kits, jam, syrup, and honey!
Flathead Cherries are a big deal this time of year. Around Flathead Lake, you can buy incredibly juicy cherries. My mom always buys a whole box and then cans, dries them, and makes jam.
I took these with my phone near St. Regis, MT on the way to my mom's house. MT is called Big Sky country for a reason!
Have you ever visited this part of the country? What memories do you have of this area of MT? If you're a local, you understand why summertime is so special in NW MT!
Until next time, Treasure State.
